Phew!

So 75 of our 107  boxes arrived earlier this week which meant a lot of unpacking. The remaining are coming in the next few days and I am quite glad its coming in bits like this since it gives me time to unpack since our new place is smaller. I unpacked most of my stash and my sewing machine, though strangely enough the sewing machine has been sitting untouched on the table for 2 days now. I’ve missed them and though I want to sew, some of my stuff are not here and it kills me a little but at least I can do some hemming and stuff for now. We went to a friends last night sort of an impromptu thing and they offered to babysit the kids. I am a little nervous since I’ve never left the kids with anyone but the thought of being child-free for a few hours sounds extremely enticing. We brought the kids to a restaurant here not too long ago and I think it will be our last trip with them except maybe if its a fast food or family joint. I think I deserve to get dolled up, having my meal without having to deal with 2 kids clawing at me. So I think we will take up on their offer pretty soon.

On top of that, I’ve been a yard sale addict lately. Its not as cheap as Arviat here and definitely not as cheap as Newfoundland but still cheaper than new. We are in a look out for a table for my sewing machine but it seems we are always a little too late. I am going to get Frank to build me a shelving unit for my fabric stash. But my latest great score has to be a “mother hubbard”, its similar to a parka but longer. The MH in my opinion is hideous but there was wolverine fur including the claws on the hood and the lady was selling it for $5. I didnt want to get it but Frank wanted the fur ruff to replace his canada goose parka so I thought it was a sweet deal.

On another note, I am still in the market for a serger and I went to Baffin Electronics yesterday, figured I should familiarize myself with the store since I will probably be spending a good amount of time there as long as we here. Its a sewing store and last year they werent selling machines but I was floored to see they have some really nice ones. I am still on the fence on spending major $$ on a serger but the one I initially want is the Babylock Imagine and that retails in Ottawa for $1999 (on sale) which is retardly expensive since the same machine in the US is $1200.  Its crazy how Canadians get ripped off. And any sew-ers reading this, tell me about your Pfaff sergers.

So far we’ve not stop in terms of “stuff to do”.  The novelty of it will pretty much die soon, I actually longed for quiet long days..and I hope it will come soon.
