The worst thing about when my kids are sick, its when I am sick as well. I am pretty sure from its food poisoning from undercooked hamburger meat. darn it, shouldn’t cook when I am tired. The kids took bites of it so they are puking everywhere, Ben seems better today but Ava puked 4 times in the course of 6 hours. Ben seems to just have the runs up to 4 times a day. So we are keeping them hydrated. I however did about a dozen toilet runs and 7 barfing session from 10pm to 4am, feel way better and if Frank didnt take time off work, I am not sure how I would function. The strangest thing is he ate the same thing and he is fine, so maybe its not food poisoning and maybe itsĀ a bug me and the kids picked up. But either ways, we are both on puke alert especially with Ava. My tummy however is making the strangest noises that I dont like hearing.
We didnt take a lot of pictures in Winnipeg, well unless its pictures of the cute little ones but we’ve been there many times that the novelty sorts of wears off after. I did get to do tons of stuff except going to the fur shop. I got fed up after the 3rd try and they were still closed though the signs says “open”. Darn it, and I wanted to get some more sealskin pelts and maybe a wolf fur or two. On the sewing side, I am better this time, didnt get much fabric just more notions. I did manage to find some vintage patterns for kids from 1973 which I thought was cool and i got it for 40 cents each. And the thing with kids stuff, its always the same now or 20 years ago. Managed to score some branded baby wear at the thrift store which is nice!
Speaking of thrift store, I was in babyGAP while I was there, I buy Ava’s tights from there cause at that time, they were the only ones that I can find that are made from “socks” material and not the cheapie cotton or sheer stuff. And I meet an east indian mom and she was debating on buying the tights and I can’t help to hear every single word since I was so close to her. So I told her that she can get a similar pair of girl’s tights in PleaseMum store for 1/3 of the price. Then I let her into a little secret that she can get branded stuff at consignment store or thrift store for a fraction of the price. She looked at me like “I am not going to let my kids wear used stuff”. So maybe its just me that really dont mind my kids wearing hand me downs, they outgrow stuff so fast and the thing with boutique store goods, they do last longer after a ton of washes and do have better cut and choices. I mean seriously kids dont need to be dressed in cartoonish stuff all the time, I prefer the contemporary kind of kids clothing.
But back to winnipeg, so picture time.

I thought this was a very cool picture of Ben standing by this polar bear showcase in Churchill Airport, Manitoba. And I dont think the sheer size of the bear scares him. He can say “bear” so both him and Ava went straight to that when we landed.
some of the showcase at the airport. polar bear, amautis, carvings are probably the biggest connection anyone will make of Nunavut so hence they are tons of these little things around. Though this was taken in Churchill, Manitoba but i think majority of people we come across, first question they ask us if we’ve seen a polar bear.
this is what he wanted for christmas, a phone and he went straight to it when we checked in the hotel that i had to unhook it.

at thompson airport, the ONLY decent picture of the 2 of them that we are able to take.

i think the staff who works in really cold extreme weather are troopers. It was -22C in thompson that day with blowing snow. Their version of a luggage cart is this little snow machine and they have a trolley hooked up to it. They probably have trucks for bigger stuff but maybe dont need it as much as they are linked by road unlike Arviat where for most part the only mean of transportation is by plane. Ava wasn’t sure what to call this thing and I think we might to add snow machine to her vocab soon, she kept saying “truck”, then paused like saying..i dont think its a truck, then she said “tractor”, then said truck, poor confused kid. haha
Off topic, but this of the my malaysian readers…definitely wont see this around but i though its so retro..wet tshirt contest??? that is sooooo 90’s!!!lol

well, i dont understand the need for brand new boutique stuff. i got gib tons of used clothes before we moved back to kl (and he was only in my tummy then! hahah!) and he outgrew them like a weed. so nasib baik i didnt buy brand new ones! got some more used stuff for gib on our trip to melbourne last september and i dont think that’ll be the last time i’d buy used stuff frm the thrift shop. personally i know i’m a total cheapskate but i dont give a damn! ;p
