The Motrin story

So I read the news about Motrin, the kids fever medicine newest ad seems to be bashing babywearing. The site is down now which I think is probably due to numerous complains. But details here

I think its kinda bashing babywearing though, what do you think? Frank and I are babywearers, I dont think its fashion, since look at my amauti, the thing does very little to show off a figure..lol Its more functionality than fashion. I personally have not ached while carrying the kids, yes when I carry both of them but one at a time, I dont ever remember feeling achy. Right carrier = no aches, I dont need motrin.

  1. it’s a thoughtless add, i totally agree. i’m not defending the drug company or anything remotely close to it (seriously!) but maybe they’re trying to get through to moms who feel pressured to carry their babies even though they can’t or shouldn’t. yes there are women out there who are stupid enough to do just that (like i did) manalah tahu…sampailah near paralysed (like i was). tapi mana ada ramai orang like that…?? so its a stupid tactic on the co.’s behalf! definitely would generate more criticism than good. what were they thinking?

  2. i didnt get to see the ad but based on what i saw, it’s really not something that would appeal to most moms since a lot of us now have internet access n have done a lot of research on babywearing. a VERY huge mistake on the comp’s part….serve them right!

  3. it was babywearing bashing but not intended, an unfortunate (:cough: $18M) mistake by the ad agency. still the company acted swiftly enough and the ad was taken down from their corp website by end of the weekend.

  4. $18M? Wow? but I saw an apology letter on their side too. Its only the American ad, nothing on the Canadian site.
