Phew, so I finally finished my wall hanging, it was fairly easy just its very time consuming since I had to sew most of it by hand. This wall hanging is partly to remind my kids though they live in Canada, they are part Borneo. I am using the Iban’s flower design here, the brinjal flower since I am unable to find anything for my tribe. But basically its also to ward off evil spirits. The maple leaf is obviously to represent Canada. I wanted to do it all in black and white but apparently the maple leaf has to be red. This is sewn entirely on felt which is currently my favourite fabric to work with.

I think I am going to frame it, its about 1.2 metres long. It turned out way better than I expected.
And today I made another bib, the idea was from this site. It was really easy and simple to sew and I like how it holds everything, I did modify it a bit and used snaps and I dont have bias binding tape so I just topstitch it. The white stuff all around is just toweling as the backing of the bib. I am going to modify it again when I make more of it. This was my test bib so the sewing is a little wonky as I was playing around with it.

dont mind the applique, it was actually for the wall hanging but it was of a different material and looked horrible on the felt but since I didnt want to waste it, it goes on the bib. The black material from the bib is cotton velour (similar to velvet but cheaper, in my case $0 since its from a recycled pants leg). The backing is towel from yet another recycled baby towel.

Isn’t that the cutest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aida, I have enjoyed reading through your blog! I wanted to contact you to ask you if you would post an invitation for a project I’m involved in, but I couldn’t find contact information. I’m sorry to be using the comments to do this. If you are interested in the idea of my blogsite, or can post an invite on your site, can you let me know?
Thanks!

sting – thanks, well we hv a lot of bibs from shops too but i find them a little too small and dont catch everything and the bigger ones cost an arm and and a leg, i will not spend $11.95 on a bib, that is crazy.
