I am missing home

I have to admit that I am utterly homesick now, like I am ready to leave on a plane tomorrow. But I can help to ponder, where is home? Malaysia, Nunavut or Newfoundland? I am throwing Newfoundland in the mix since my in laws are still considered half family anyways and to be honest I do miss Newfoundland. Nunavut is home for now but my heart is really saying Malaysia is my true home. Looking back, we didnt have it bad in Malaysia though we didnt have kids then. We would be jetting off somewhere for the weekend, we had a nice condo downtown and were earning good money though this maybe me itching to go back to work not as good as here but still, if we have had the 2 kids in Malaysia, I really dont think we would have left. I do miss my friends a lot and as annoying as my mother can be, I miss her too. And of course I miss the food, I am anal, I always make sure there is enough in my savings for a ticket for me and the kids to fly to Malaysia..lol No that we dont want to include Frank but its harder for him to get time off work.He has this paranoia that if something happen, he is so far away though I’ve told him, many many moms probably have traveled alone with their kids too. He probably does have a point and maybe I am experiencing some amount of cabin fever for now.

  1. Hey there!! I am trying to catch up on all of your postings and it sure is taking me a while! Your kids are looking great. The cabin fever in normal for this time of year. I have it too and I am not even in my house yet :)

  2. I miss home too! But is KL really still my home? I’ve been away for more than 4 years now so maybe Ohio is home? Funny how I still call KL home eventhough it hasn’t been my home for the past 4 years. I have some savings too if I ever get a chance to just leave and fly back to Msia. Hubby… well… yeah it’s hard for him to take off from work. Plus I think he’d rather not go back there. Too much drama.

  3. Aww..Aida..I know how you feel. What if you and the kids visit your sister? Sometimes it feels better to be around the family.

  4. hoping you would be able to visit home soon :-)

  5. I have a glimpse of your feeling… I visited Singapore a few years ago (we have family there) and I missed the food terribly even when I’m just a tourist. One of my fav dishes is mee-siam (sp?) and I believe it is a malaysian dish, ya?

  6. kara – long winters = cabin fever eh..lol good to have you back!

leo – true true, susah for Frank to take off work. its annoying sometimes.

vien – dont know ler. my sister has been away for almost 9 years now and never gone back, i think Frank probably can relate to some malaysian things than her..lol

sting – ya lor…i miss the food.

jane – yes, mee siam, but i am from borneo so really craving the laksa and borneo food, but at this rate, i would kill for tosai at my fav mamak stall in KL!

  7. Seems like we all get homesick at some time. Right now, I’m wishing for a nice hot bowl of laksa which is quite possible since I suspect the Chinatown here probably stocks Singaporean foodstuff.
